I was privileged to be invited to talk about James Bond’s food recently on a special ‘mission debrief’ edition of the legendary James Bond & Friends podcast, produced by the good folk at MI6-hq.com.
In the podcast, my host and I discuss Bond’s heroic consumption of eggs, the novelty of an avocado in the 1950s, strange savoury desserts, Fleming (and consequently Bond’s) passion for rich French-style cuisine, touring Europe like 007, Bond novels as a travelogue, his kitchen and single-use gadgets, and the general dearth of food in the films when compared to the novels.
